Anesthesiology-Cardiac Division

  • The CTA II position for clinical research is an integral part of conducting all research-related tasks.
  • The position is responsible for collecting data from study enrolled patients in both industry trials and federally supported research trials such as the National Institute of Health and Aging.
  • The CTA II position assists the research coordinator in collecting data from patients in the pre-operative, operative, and post-operative areas of care, according to set research protocols.
  • This position is responsible for maintaining files and study related documentation in regards to the research protocols.
  • The CTA II, interprets data collected from patients and enters the data into a database, and relays significant information to both the study sponsors coordinator and the Primary Investigator.
  • The CTA II is responsible for assuring data and laboratory specimens are collected per study related protocol.
  • The CTA II may also assist in the screening and consenting of potential research subjects for inclusion into clinical research trials.
  • The CTA II may also supervise the receipt and dissemination of study related regulatory documents and correspondence from assigned sites; screen documents for completeness and compliance with protocol and appropriate regulations; investigate incomplete.Inaccurate or missing documents to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
  • The position will also communicate with a diverse group of patients,healthcare team members,and study related sponsors in regards to conducting research studies.
  • The CTA II will also assist other new employees with orientation to work, and laboratory environments and precept newer employees during orientation to the research protocols and studies.
  • The CTA II will also attend routine weekly meetings and other meetings related to clinical trials; stay abreast of information and any changes to study related protocols.

Preferred Education/Training
  • Work prefers knowledge of basic mathematical, data collection and research principles normally acquired through a bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with statistical analysis computer programs preferred. Analytical or chemical laboratory experience highly preferred.

Preferred Experience
  • Work prefers two years directly related work experience in clinical trials research; or Work prefers three years experience in general research or an advanced clerical position (e.g., Medical Secretary) to become familiar with the basic techniques and methods used to collect, compile, verify, and store medically related information.
  • Experience may also contain an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
