Post-Doctoral Fellow

Drs. Kenneth Tyler (MD) and Penny Clarke (PhD) are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to investigate pathogenic mechanisms following virus infection of the central nervous system (CNS). The successful candidate will use primary cultures, organotypic mouse brain and spinal cord slice cultures, and well-described mouse models of viral encephalitis to examine neuroinflammation and specific mechanisms of virus-induced CNS injury and cell death. A good knowledge of basic virology and neuroscience and experience with small animal models, microscopy, gene expression analysis, and animal neurobehavioral monitoring is ideal.

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in molecular biology, neuroscience, microbiology, immunology or related discipline.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently within the research lab
  • Computer software or technical skills
