PostDoctoral Associate

Job description

Postdoctoral Fellow positions in BioDesign and Genome Engineering

Principal Investigator Labs: Jeff Cameron, Carrie Eckert, Ryan T. Gill

The Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute (RASEI), a partnership between the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the University of Colorado at Boulder, has openings to work on multi-institutional projects to develop genome engineering technology for a variety of applications, including the improved production of fuels and chemicals from renewable feedstocks. These tools will accelerate the Design-Build-Test-Learn cycle in model and non-model organisms with innate capacities for feedstock utilization and target chemical production.

Successful candidates will work in close collaboration with a multi-institution team to optimize genetic manipulation via next generation tools including CRISPR/Cas to improve transformation and genome editing efficiencies and enable high throughput screening/selection of targeted library variants with desired phenotypes. The candidate will integrate with expert collaborators in transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and metabolic modeling at partner institutions to design experiments and analyze data. The candidate will write and communicate experimental results to the team and the scientific community.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Chemical/Biological Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Successful applicants should be no more than 5 years post Ph.D. degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience engineering model and/or non-model microbial systems, especially with CRISPR/Cas

Demonstrated ability to design, deploy, and maintain database-backed web-based platforms for design of biological systems

Interested candidates should send an updated CV to [email protected]
