Professional Research Assistant

The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension seeks a Professional Research Assistant to perform Micro-surgery work on preclinical projects involving delayed graft function and rejection. Our microsurgical core is funded through the NIH and VA, and performs heart, lung, and kidney and islet cell transplants. The applicant will perform experiments using mouse heart and kidney transplant models to study the role of the innate and adaptive immune systems in mediating disease progression.

The PRA will perform mouse heart transplant and kidney transplants, run Western blots, ELISA assays, qPCR, cell culture, and flow cytometry. Approximately 15% of the PRA's time will be devoted to performing routine lab work such as mouse experiments, ordering supplies, making solutions, and organizing samples


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science or an equivalent degree and experience with microsurgery in rodents including mouse or rat heart and/or kidney transplant, molecular biology, biochemical techniques, mouse handling, ELISA's, qPCR, RNA isolation, flow cytometry, and mouse surgery
