Job Description:

SUMMARY

Conducts assigned compliance, process or information technology audits with some assistance from College-wide Director, Internal Audit and Senior Internal Auditor in a professional manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts various audit testing, interviews, and internal control walk-throughs designed to evaluate business processes, controls and compliance
  • Works to strengthen internal controls and regulatory environment within grants management, student registration, financial aid, and other student service areas of the College
  • Works to acquire additional knowledge of IT auditing, higher education regulations, Banner ERP, and generally accepted accounting principles and audit standards
  • Assists with KPI's, budget, scheduling and development of the annual risk-based audit plan as needed
  • Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Reviews status of outstanding internal audit issues
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, I.T. Security, or related field.
    • Significant related experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum of five years of full time related work experience including at least two years of demonstrated IT, audit, compliance or regulatory experience
  • Demonstrates ability to apply problem solving methods in a variety of complex situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently
  • Possess the ability and education to learn financial, regulatory, and I.T. concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to foster a team environment and work collaboratively
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to develop basic proficiency with Ad Astra and Blackboard (or equivalent programs)
  • Ability to develop intermediate proficiency with the Banner system (or equivalent program)
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality
  • Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, I.T., or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor
  • Certified Internal Auditor
  • Any other equivalent audit, I.T., or accounting certifications

  • The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment;
  • The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated;
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.;
  • Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite
