Asst Professor

The Division of GI, Trauma and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Colorado is recruiting a full time surgeon to join our faculty to be the Medical Director of Trauma-Acute Care Surgery at The UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital. The start-date is somewhat flexible, and we are looking to fill the position between August and December of 2018.

The University of Colorado Health System is opening a new, state-of-the-art hospital in Highlands Ranch, which is located in the southern part of the Denver metropolitan area. The Highland Ranch Hospital is to open in the first quarter of 2019 as a Level III Trauma Center. This position would be ideally suited for an experienced general surgeon with previous experience as a Level III Trauma Center Medical Director looking to relocate to the beautiful state of Colorado and join a stable, highly skilled and very supportive program. This is a clinical position with limited teaching or research obligations at the level of Clinical Assistant to Associate Professor commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to trauma, the position will include the full spectrum of acute care surgery. The Director will be responsible for maintaining the program's trauma designation. It would also provide an exceptional opportunity to build a general surgery practice with several other members of the Division.

The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services, supervise advanced practice providers and nurses in providing independent clinical care for patients. These duties will include clinic at the University of Colorado Health Highlands Ranch Hospital, inpatient and outpatient surgeries primarily at HRH. Close collaboration with colleagues, hospital and clinic staff will be necessary.

The Division of GI, Trauma and Endocrine Surgery is a rapidly expanding program with programs in Burn, Bariatric, Colon and Rectal, Endocrine, Complex GI and Hernia, and Trauma Acute Care Surgery including Surgical Critical Care. We have fellowship-trained surgeons in every section of the Division.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
    Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery Ability to communicate clearly as an integral member of a team Eligible to obtain a license to practice as a physician in the state of Colorado Excellent communication skills Clinical expertise in the full spectrum of trauma and acute care surgery

Preferred Qualifications
    Previous experience as a Medical Director of a Level II Trauma Center Demonstrated proficiency in educational, and research efforts Surgical program development
