The University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus, Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine Division is seeking applications for energetic, collegial individuals for a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner OR Physicians Assistant) position to provide outpatient care in the clinics of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Center (PVDC) at the University of Colorado Hospital. The PVDC comprises clinics in the areas of Pulmonary Hypertension (an accredited Pulmonary Hypertension Comprehensive Care Center), Pulmonary Embolism/Chronic Thromboembolic Disease (CTEPH), and Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT) (HHT Center of Excellence).

This position would hold the faculty title of Instructor within the School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Pulmonary Sciences and Critical Care Medicine Division. The Division (ranked #1 in the nation) oversees a regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized referral center for the care of patients with all forms of pulmonary disease and critical illness. The responsibilities will include the assessment and ongoing management of patients with various forms of pulmonary vascular disease. The provider will work closely with the physicians (including residents, fellows, and other trainees).

Examples of work performed:

  • Outpatient assessment and care of patients with pulmonary vascular disease.
  • Assisting physicians in the outpatient care of this same patient population.
  • Scheduling of evaluations, testing, and procedures.
  • Engaging and communicating with consulting services.
  • Outpatient case management of patients with complex pulmonary vascular disease.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Nurse Practitioners should be board certified or board eligible for certification.
  • Physicians Assistants should have experience in the care of complex medical patients.
  • Eligible or licensed in Colorado (would need to obtain CO license before working).
  • Certified to see adolescents and adults.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with multiple medical providers and disciplines.
  • Excellent bedside manner and physical exam skills.
  • General Internal Medicine knowledge base (knowledge of pulmonary vascular disease is desirable, but not required as there will be on-the-job training).
  • Pulmonary Medicine, Cardiology, Intensive Care, or Subspecialty background preferred, but not required.
