Job description

The College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is currently seeking applicants to fill a non-tenure-track, full-time Instructor position in Sport Management starting in August 2018.

We are looking for candidates who can facilitate a highly effective learning environment and teach a number of core sport management subjects, including collegiate athletics and sport economics. Classes in other areas may be assigned as needed. This position is 80% teaching load (equivalent to 8 classes per year), 10% service, and 10% professional development. This position will also require on-going practice-related activities to maintain a minimum of AACSB "Instructional Practitioner" status.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An MBA or Masters degree in sport management or a closely related area (with a focus on the business or administrative side of sport).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior and relevant teaching experience in sport management.
  • Relevant industry experience, preferably with experience in either collegiate athletics and/or professional sport administration.

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • A strong commitment to student-centered instruction and the ability to facilitate highly effective learning environments.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated ability and interest to teach effectively in all courses.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in teaching across multiple sport management classes including collegiate athletics and sport economics.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in working collaboratively to support the development of the UCCS sport management program, including the development of a new graduate program in sport management.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in contributing to the growth of the University, developing community relations, and advancing the sport management field.
