Job Summary:

The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Professional Research Assistant. This full-time position is responsible for overseeing grant-funded clinical research at Children's Hospital Colorado. The professional research assistant will be responsible primarily for the day-to-day operations of clinical research studies in transgender adolescents, children with differences of sex development, and in youth with cystic fibrosis related diabetes. The position will involve participant recruitment and retention, scheduling study visits, overseeing participant visits in the Clinical and Translational Research Center and administering study assessments, database management, study regulatory requirements, and administrative duties. The successful candidate will be trained to conduct a variety of assessments, including obtaining a medical history, exercise testing, and biological specimen processing. Opportunities for this position include: (1) direct contact with children/adolescents and families; (2) training in a wide range of assessments for cardiometabolic health; (3) potential for authorship on scientific abstracts, publications and presentations.

Examples of Work Performed:

1. Recruit study participants

2. Research database maintenance and research data entry

3. Oversee participant visits in the pediatric Clinical Translational Research Center

4. Handle and store biological specimens

5. Conduct study assessments with participants

6. Assist with participant retention

7. Manage expenses

8. Assist with documentation of regulatory compliance

9. Other duties as assigned.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

This opening is currently for a two-year position, but there may be an opportunity for continuation after that time, dependent on performance and funding.

The hiring salary for this position is $35,000 - $38,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents
  • At least 6 months of research experience

Condition of Employment:
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a criminal and sex offender background check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous clinical research experience
  • Experience with computer applications, spreadsheets and database software such as Excel and REDCap
  • Previous experience with exercise testing (including exercise bike and VO2 max testing)
