Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect has an opening for a full-time Associate Professor/Professor.



Examples of Work Performed:

Serves as Section Head for the Kempe Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Abuse and Neglect, within the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine, University of Colorado. As Section Head, the Executive Director establishes the strategic direction for the Section and fosters collaboration among Kempe faculty and colleagues at the Department of Pediatrics, Children's Hospital Colorado, University of Colorado School of Medicine, and the broader University of Colorado community.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the programmatic and financial operations of the Kempe Center to ensure that financial and human resources are available to support research, clinical, educational, and advocacy/policy activities.
  • Develops innovative clinical, educational and research programs to meet emerging needs of children.
  • Recruits and develops faculty and interdisciplinary professionals to support the clinical and academic missions of the Section.
  • Leads fellowship program in conjunction with fellowship program director
  • Supports innovative research efforts in child abuse
  • Develops the future generation of pediatric child abuse specialists.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with affiliate institutions and community organizations locally, nationally and internationally.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary for this position is $225,000 - $300,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • MD in pediatrics, psychiatry, family medicine or a closely related field; PhD in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or a closely related field.
  • For those who require a license for their terminal degree, must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado prior to start date.
  • Record of achievement and excellence in one or more of the following areas: clinical care, research, education or advocacy/policy development.
  • 5-10 years of experience managing complex organizations, including strategic planning, program development, financial management, and organizational change.
  • Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.


Condition of Employment

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal and financial background and sex offender registry check
  • Must be willing and able to work on site even during times of campus closures and inclement weather

  • Knowledge of, and ability to, articulate the current and salient issues in the child maltreatment field from a national and international perspective
