The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has an opening for a part-time University Staff (unclassified) Business Services Professional position.

Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families. Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field.

At the entry level, duties are limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals and are performed in a training and development capacity.

At the intermediate level, duties are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Position Emphasis:

This part-time (50%) position is responsible for providing academic support in the Dean's Office and Departments of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). The Business Services Professional will provide human resources and payroll support for personnel within CLAS. Duties may include working with the HR team entering and approving appointments, reviewing and generating offer letters, posting positions in CU Careers, completing I-9s, and providing monthly and biweekly payroll support. Other duties include event planning and coordination and assisting CLAS departments with reimbursements. This position may also serve as a backup in CLAS departments when departmental staff are expected to be out of the office long term. Duties may include answering student and faculty questions, HR support, course and curriculum support, website support, and financial reporting support. Projects in other areas may be assigned to support college initiatives.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary range for this position has been established at $18,134 to $29,000 at 50% FTE and is commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience providing support to a department or office with a variety of different job responsibilities.
  • Experience using CU systems (HCM, CU Careers, CU-SIS, Concur).
  • Experience providing training on systems or processes


  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay up to date on several different projects at the same time.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
