Job description

Take your journalism skills to the next level, and deepen your understanding of environmental issues, by applying for the 2018-2019 Ted Scripps Fellowships in Environmental Journalism. Five individuals will be chosen and will have the official University of Colorado title of "faculty fellow." Accepted candidates will audit courses, participate in weekly seminars and other events, and work on a significant project. These positions are offered by the Center for Environmental Journalism, University of Colorado Boulder.

Who we are:
The CEJ was established in 1992 at the University of Colorado Boulder to enrich public understanding of environmental issues by elevating the quality, range, and depth of coverage by journalists. The center does this by helping seasoned and emerging journalists enhance their knowledge of the scientific, economic, political, and social aspects of these issues.

The College of Media Communication and Information, established in 2015, is the first new college on the CU-Boulder campus in 53 years. CMCI prides itself on offering students an interdisciplinary education with a focus on innovation and creativity. CU Boulder is a research university with about 25,000 undergraduates and 6,000 graduate students. Employment details:
The program provides a $56,000 stipend. It also covers tuition and fees, plus a recreation center pass. Employment begins at the start of the Fall 2018 semester and runs for nine months through the end of the Spring 2019 semester. All university breaks and holidays will be observed.

Print, broadcast and online journalists with a minimum of five years of professional experience are eligible. Applicants may include reporters, editors, photojournalists, producers, videographers, multimedia journalists and full-time freelancers. Prior experience covering the environment is not necessary. Applicants must also have at least a BA or BS college degree.
