Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics has openings for two full-time Biostatistics Research Instructors. These positions will provide biostatistics consulting and collaboration for child health researchers.

Examples of Work Performed:

#1: Biostatistician will work on Cancer-related projects as a member of the Cancer Center Biostatistics Shared Resource with investigators from the University of Colorado Cancer Center.

#2: Biostatistician will work 50% for the Section of Pulmonology in the Department of Pediatrics and 50% for the Center for Children's Surgery.

Responsibilities include:

  • Study design consultation including power and sample size
  • Development of data collection, and quality control procedures
  • Protocol review
  • Statistical analysis, including:
    • clinical trials
    • predictive modeling
    • causal inference
    • observational studies
    • laboratory experiments
    • health service research
    • behavioral research
    • epidemiological research
    • qualitative services research
    • program evaluation
    • survey development and analysis
    • measurement validation studies
    • outcomes research
  • Grant and trial proposal and manuscript assistance for abstracts and publications
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with multiple departments and institutions and with outside organizations and investigators in support of projects.


PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:


The hiring salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 and is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • MS in Biostatistics
  • Two or more years experience performing data management and data analysis
  • Familiarity with SAS, R, one or more DBMS such as REDcap and Oncore/Compass

Required Competencies:




  • Large data analysis using behavioral health, claims, health services or epidemiological databases (e.g. SEER, Oncore)
  • Clinical trial experience, specifically Phase I and II
  • Statistical modeling (survival, logistic regression, GLM and longitudinal data analysis)
  • Study design including sample size and power estimation
  • Word processing and data presentation using standard packages (e.g. Word, LaTex, knitr or rmarkdown, Adobe, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with various principal investigators simultaneously, within vigorous timelines
  • Potential to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team atmosphere
