Degree and Area of Specialization:
Earned doctorate degree in secondary English education, literacy studies or related field.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Previous higher education teaching and research experience.
Record of scholarly publications and successful external funding.
Experience working with underserved populations and/or on equity issues in Literacy and Education in middle-high school.
Commitment to research and teaching for social justice.
The Susan Cellmer Chair supports an internationally known scholar engaged in research, teaching and service in adolescent literacies and multiliteracy studies in Education. The scholar who takes this position will be a productive and internationally recognized researcher, will secure external funding to support research, and be an active contributor to discussions around equitable pedagogy in adolescent literacies both in and out of schools. In addition, they will teach in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction's secondary education program, engage in the department's graduate programs by working with masters and doctoral students, and participate in service to the department, campus, and scholarly community more broadly.
