Position Summary:

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the #1 ranked department for graduate education in the United States, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of Curriculum Studies.

We seek an early career scholar whose work will continue the department's tradition of excellence, creativity, and innovation in research, teaching, and service at the national and international levels. Curriculum Studies research is dedicated to the politics of knowledge/wisdom, to maintaining generalist, interdisciplinary perspectives on the phenomena of schooling, engaging broad issues impacting sociocultural contexts of education, providing innovative research approaches, and studying diverse sites of education within and beyond schooling. We are interested in a faculty member who draws on philosophical, historical, and/or sociocultural frameworks to address the significant challenges in the curriculum field. Further, we seek a scholar who can work respectfully with a diverse student body at the national and international levels. The candidate will teach classes in the department's Curriculum Studies and Global Studies Area in the graduate program and in undergraduate programs. The position entails participation in service across a variety of levels that can range from department, campus, national and international domains as well as scholarly and professional communities. Appointment will be full time for the nine-month academic year. Salary is competitive and contingent on experience and qualifications. Additional remuneration for summer session teaching is possible.
