Degree and Area of Specialization:
Advanced Degree or equivalent professional experience required: MFA in Theatre and Drama or related field, with emphasis in Acting/Voice. Ability to teach Stage Movement, Musical Theatre and/or Theatre for Social and Cultural Awareness (TCSA) a plus.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Evidence of substantial and successful university-level teaching experience in acting and voice at the graduate and undergraduate levels required. Professional acting, vocal coaching, stage directing, and appropriate union membership/affiliation (AEA, SAG-AFTRA, VASTA) highly preferred. Leadership skills and grant writing abilities are highly valued.
License or certificate:
We are looking for an energetic and experienced professional interested in teaching a wide range of vocal and acting skills to both liberal arts undergraduates and professional MFA graduate students, and pursuing on-going creative research in these areas at one of our country's leading research universities. The departments of Theatre, Art and Dance are housed in UW-Madison's highly acclaimed School of Education, which values interdisciplinary collaborations and the arts to enrich our global community. The candidate chosen for this position will be responsible for teaching Acting, Voice, and other courses relevant to their expertise. Additionally, this person will serve as a mentor to our undergraduate and graduate students and periodically direct departmental productions. Participation in departmental service/governance and engagement in ongoing creative and/or scholarly research commensurate with attaining tenure at a research institution are expected.
