Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology or related field required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-Minimum 2 year of research experience is required. Undergraduate experience will be considered.
-Strong background in molecular biology, microbiology, and/or biochemistry
-Prior experience with bacterial genetics, host-microbe interactions, and protein chemistry is preferred.
-Lab management experience is a plus.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, computer literacy required.
-Physical ability to move/distribute food materials, supplies, equipment, operate equipment safely, and handle bacteria and chemicals in a safe manner.
-Excellent oral/written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and a proven record of working effectively as a team member are necessary.
License or certificate:
The Huynh lab studies the molecular mechanisms of bacterial pathogenesis. We currently investigate signaling mechanisms mediated by small nucleotides second messengers, which are essential to bacterial growth and virulence. Our work is multidisciplinary, and we have strong working relationships with many research groups on campus. This position will be an excellent opportunity for you to learn different techniques bacterial physiology, protein chemistry, mass spectrometry, and immunology. You will be a crucial lab member who drives our research success and participates in lab management.
This is a fixed-term terminal appointment with a guaranteed length of 12 months from date of hire (i.e., March 26, 2018-March 25, 2019). This appointment may be extended up to a maximum of 24 months as a fixed-term terminal appointment depending on satisfactory performance, business need, and funding.
