Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Design within the College of Visual Arts and Design at The University of North Texas (UNT) seeks a scholar and/or designer with a commitment to excellence and a passion for teaching and professional practice in Fashion Design. Applicants with an energetic, team-building leadership style, and a record and willingness toward developing and building synergistic relationships with fashion industry partners are encouraged.
The successful candidate will exhibit leadership qualities appropriate to advance the UNT Fashion Design program's long history of educating professional designers, engage students in design competitions, research projects, technology, student professional development, and global studies, and also navigate the program into new directions as a highly desirable higher education option for students in the ever-changing field of fashion design.

PhD or MFA in Fashion Design or closely related discipline, in-hand at time of appointment, with an active and distinguished record of creative work appropriate to rank. A Master's degree in Fashion Design with exceptional fashion industry experience may also be considered. College level teaching experience as instructor of record is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong visual design skills and a capacity for conducting original creative design and research work within a background of creative practice and/or industry experience. Candidates must show a proficiency in all aspects of fashion design including knowledge and experience in conceptual design, technical design, and clothing construction including pattern drafting, draping, tailoring and emerging technologies.
Three years of professional design experience are preferred. Experience in one or more of the following is highly desired: apparel design technologies such as Adobe Creative Suite, ePortfolio platforms, 2D computer applications such as Gerber, Optitex, 3D garment simulation and familiarity with other emerging technologies (e.g. 3D visualization, body scanning, wearable technology, and digital fabrication).
