Department Overview
UNT-International is the university division charged with leading all aspects of UNT's international outreach, programming, student abroad, recruiting, admissions, ESL instruction, sponsored students programs, and student and scholar services. UNT-International works cooperatively with the colleges, schools, and academic departments to bring the world to the UNT campus and bring UNT to a global audience.

UNT-International serves approximately 2,500 international students and hundreds of foreign scholars and researchers from more than 125 countries and many more domestic UNT faculty and staff studying or conducting research abroad. The organization employs more than 80 staff and instructors and is led by the Vice Provost International Affairs.

Job Description
The International Affairs Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Director, International Student & Scholar Services to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Responsible for all visa and immigration services for the UNT System and for ensuring that the university is in compliance with all federal rules and regulations for over 3,000 foreign nationals within the UNT System.
* Provides support for international students, visiting international faculty and scholars, new international faculty, and the academic departments/research units that enroll, invite and/or employ them.
* Oversees services to campus through policy development, program development, supervision of professional staff, and assists with budgetary decisions on resource allocation for ISSS.
* Crucial for the university to maintain an international program as defined by federal regulation.
* Works with external agencies very closely such as Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, US Citizenship & Immigration Services, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Department of State.
* Must be certified with the federal government as the Primary Designated School Official with Homeland Security and Responsible Officer with the Department of State.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and week-ends.
* Demonstrate problem solving and team leadership skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in related field and six years of closely related professional experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Immigration experience as it relates to university students, scholars, faculty and staff.
* Experience dealing with the agencies in the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Department of State.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's degree in appropriate discipline.
* Experience working with individuals / Groups from other countries/ culture.
* Supervisory experience including professional and student staff.
* Experience working with multiple offices/units/departments ( in a university setting preferred).
* Excellent knowledge of federal laws and regulations that apply to international students and scholars ( F-1, J-1, H-1B, Permanent Residents).
* Experience in a university office responsible for international students and scholars ( preferred).
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to travel domestically and abroad.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
* Strong computer skills programming.
* Ability to drive ( has a driver's license).
