Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas in Denton invites applications for a three-year appointment as a lecturer in public relations. The position will begin in the Fall 2018 semester with the possibility of renewal. The selected candidate will teach classes in public relations writing, nonprofit public relations, social media and other areas, such as newswriting, as needed by the school. Committee work and some career advising for students will also be required.

The Mayborn School of Journalism: We are an ACEJMC-accredited school with the only professionally accredited journalism master's program in the four-state region of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arkansas. We are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, in the fifth largest media market in the country. We offer journalism classes in public relations, advertising, print/digital, broadcast/digital, and photojournalism. We enroll approximately 1,200 undergraduate students and 30 graduate students. Graduates have won many national and international awards, including Cannes Lions and Pulitzer Prizes. The school offers students multi-platform professional opportunities and is home to the award-winning North Texas Daily student newspaper, Denton Public Access TV, an online radio station, Mayborn Magazine, the Denton Live magazine, and student-run photography and ad/PR agencies. The school also hosts the annual Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference, the nationally acclaimed conference for aspiring and experienced writers, journalists and authors. We offer study-abroad programs in the United Kingdom, Japan and Mexico.

Minimum Qualifications:
*Master's degree at the time of appointment in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications or another field relevant to the classes taught
*A minimum of five years of full-time professional experience in public relations
*Some college-level teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:
*Professional experience in public relations strategic planning and implementation
* Professional experience in journalism
* Expertise in content marketing
* Expertise in social media, digital PR and analytics
