Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Studio Art in the College of Visual Arts and Design at The University of North Texas (UNT) seeks an artist/scholar with a commitment to excellence and a passion for teaching and professional arts practice in Drawing and Painting.
Teach all levels of coursework in the undergraduate and graduate drawing and painting curriculum; emphasize critical decision making and execution throughout the creative process. Active participation within the drawing and painting concentration, and participation in department, college and university service is expected, as is student advising. The standard course load is a 3/2.
The Drawing and Painting concentration provides a comprehensive educational program designed to provide a sound basis of skills and concepts, foster critical thinking, and inspire creativity such that each student may find his or her own aesthetic voice toward the development of a sustainable studio practice. The faculty has high intellectual and technical expectations of the students. There are approximately 200 undergraduate and ten graduate students in the concentration. Drawing and Painting faculty members teach along with lecturers, numerous adjuncts, teaching assistants, and teaching fellows who have diverse approaches to studio practice and critical discourse.

MFA in studio art or closely related discipline, in-hand at time of appointment, with an active and distinguished record of creative work appropriate to rank.
A minimum of one year university-level teaching experience after graduate school.
