Job Summary/Basic Function:
Department of Information Science in College of Information at the University of North Texas is seeking candidates for multiple faculty positions in Data Science for programs at the Bachelor, Master and PhD level. The Data Science programs at UNT are designed to meet the increasing demands for Data Science and Data Analytics professionals. The department currently offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science, Master of Science degree in Data Science, and a concentration in Data Science in the Information Science PhD program.
Candidates should have a solid background and expertise in data science, anchored in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) disciplines, including big data, data analytics, data/information visualization, data mining, machine learning, data modeling, informetrics, natural language processing, and information retrieval. All candidates should have a demonstrated willingness to engage in high quality research and have the aptitude for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level teaching. The position requires a commitment to teaching, scholarly research resulting in high quality publications and presentations, sustained service to the department and college, and academic advisement.

This position requires a Ph. D. degree in Data Science, Information Science, Computer Science or a closely related field and preferably a significant industry experience or previous work in Data Science related areas. Teaching and research experience is required.
Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of funded scholarly research and publication.
