Job Description
The Education-Dean's Office Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Pre-Award Senior Research Analyst to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Working with faculty to develop and conduct externally funded research and sponsored projects.
* Work with faculty to prepare forms, justifications, and proposal budgets for submission. Primary emphasis on financial/budgetary aspects of sponsored projects including determining how a submission is classified and what process and requirements are applicable.
* Supporting dean's office in developing tracking mechanisms, standard operating procedures, and various ad hoc reports.
* Supports overall research goals of the college working closely with the Office of Grants and Contract Administration.
* Duties reflect substantial variety and complexity.
* Assignments are broad in nature and usually require creativity and originality.
* Serves as a resource for others in the resolution of complex problems and issues related to grants and contracts.
* Maintains in-depth understanding and knowledge of pre-award procedures, agency regulations and federal law (particularly the Uniform Guidance) in order to gather information the researcher needs for proposal development.
* Reviews for internal compliance issues and required agency and RFP guidelines.
* Assist in editing or proposal writing (boiler plate COE information).
* Gather, analyze, and integrate information from different sources in the preparation of forms, reports and analysis related to proposals and awards; i.e. looking for sources of external funding relevant to the researchers in the college and distributing that information.
* Assist faculty in research compliance activities including tracking the completion of Responsible Conduct of Research training, human subjects and animal care approvals, export control training and compliance, and conflict of interest certification process
* Assist with designing and delivery of training materials.

* Ability to work independently on assigned proposals and awards, also work as part of a team of central and distributed research administrators.
* Effective written communication skills; e.g. emails to ask about or convey rules, writing of reports on research activities/results, assist in editing or writing proposal narratives if requested, convey information on the phone or in person regarding rules, regulations, deadlines, etc., in a helpful and non-confrontational manner or to present training in groups.
* General administrative experience with budgets, purchasing, payroll, travel with specific skill in budget planning, analysis, and reconciliation.
* Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, public administration, or related field and five years of relevant administrative work or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Work independently on assigned proposals and awards, but work as part of a team of central and distributed research administrators to support common goals.
* Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong time management and problem solving skills.
* Prior knowledge of pre-or post-award administration regulations and procedures.
* General administrative experience with budgets, purchasing, payroll, travel with specific skill in budget planning, analysis, and reconciliation.
* Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Prior experience in research or grants management or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* Experience in higher education, research administration, grant submissions to federal agencies such as DOE, NSF and NIH are highly preferred.
