Department Overview
UNT International (UNT-I) is the administrative unit charged with directing all aspects of UNT's international operations and partnerships. UNT-I is a growing and strongly supported organization and is central to the university's strategic internationalization.

The Study Abroad Office is responsible for coordinating the university's study abroad and exchange programs. Study Abroad has a mandate to expand student participation and to integrate study abroad into the UNT curriculum. We aim to develop new opportunities to meet the unique needs of the UNT community and increase student access to global educational experiences.

Job Description
The Study Abroad Office at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Study Abroad Advisor to join our team.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Oversees student recruiting and advising for a portfolio of study abroad and exchange programs within an assigned region.
* Markets and promotes all programs by representing the Study Abroad Office at campus events (new student orientations, student organization meetings, etc.), program information sessions, tabling events, and in social media.
* Establishes and implements a strategy for meeting department goals tied to one or more assigned projects/areas of responsibility (Diversity, Assessment, Scholarships, Re-entry, etc.).
* Maintains the integrity (validity and completeness) of data in the SAO database (Studio Abroad) for all programs and participants.
* Responds to requests for information from faculty, staff and outside organizations on program details.
* Serves as back-up passport acceptance agent.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Masters in international education, intercultural relations, higher education administration or student affairs
* Experience working/studying/living abroad
* Knowledge of student development theory
* Experience advising individuals representing a broad range of abilities and academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
* Experience interpreting and communicating complex policies and processes in both written and verbal form
