The Film Studies Program in the School of Visual Studies at the University of Missouri invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in video production starting Fall 2018. The school seeks a creative filmmaker with a significant record of creative activity and exhibition in film and/or video and the potential for future work in this area. Candidates should be fully conversant with digital production tools and have experience teaching undergraduate courses in one or more areas of video production.
Required qualifications include an MFA or PhD or equivalent in film, media and/or video production.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to engage productively with students at all skill levels and a commitment to develop a vibrant video production curriculum within the context of a large state university. The candidate must be able to teach introductory through advanced production classes in narrative filmmaking. Duties include teaching two classes per semester and working with the Director of the Film Studies Program in expanding its offerings and strengthening its collaborations with local and national production companies, the True/False Film Fest, and other areas of film and digital media production at the University of Missouri. These include the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism, the Digital Storytelling Program, and the IT Program in Entertainment Media.
