Position Description

The College of Charleston invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in German beginning August 16, 2018. We seek an innovative teacher-scholar who is committed to quality undergraduate liberal arts education. Teach four courses per semester, including first and second year German. Teaching responsibilities include all levels of language, interdisciplinary courses in translation, and courses in area of specialization.

Demonstrated FL teaching. Demonstrated scholarly activity (field open). Interest in program building and promotion, development of new courses and programs, and interdisciplinary teaching. Willingness to collaborate with other disciplines on campus. Strong backgrounds in areas such as Minority Literature, Migration and Transcultural Studies, Environmental Studies, Jewish Studies, Digital Humanities, Urban Studies, Gender Studies, Media Studies, and Music and Sound Studies are highly desirable. Native or near-native proficiency in German and English. Ph.D. in hand at time of appointment.
