Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Department of Theatre & Dance invites applications for a non-tenure track, Instructor / Assistant Technical Director (ATD) for Lighting and Sound. This is a an eleven (11) month annual appointment with a salary of $51,333. It is reviewed annually for reappointment, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding.
The ATD for Lighting & Sound provides technical technical expertise and daily hands -on production supervision that strengthens student learning through our production program. Production responsibilities include: supervision of graduate and undergraduate students in the implementation of lighting and sound designs for the main stage and non-main stage theatre productions; organization, upkeep and maintenance of equipment and systems; assisting with production budget; and working with outside vendors. Job duties also include teaching two (2) undergraduate technical theatre or design courses per semester.

Required Education and Experience

Candidate should have an MA or MFA in a Design and/or Technical Theatre discipline or a BA / BFA Theatre degree with at least three years relevant professional or university employment experience. The ATD for Lighting and Sound must be hands-on, self-motivated and detail oriented with advanced technical, organizational and leadership skills. The position requires adeptness working with student / nonprofessional design / technical crews, and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
