Advertised Job Summary
Under limited supervision, coordinates compliance of the hazardous material, safety, and environmental policies and procedures for all projects in the Facilities Department in order to meet all federal and state laws and regulations and to maintain the health and safety of faculty, staff, students, and guests of the University of South Carolina.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master's degree in natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering, or related technical field and 1 year experience in environmental health programs or radiological health, or Bachelor's degree in related field and 3 years experience in construction, maintenance, and/or environmental health programs, or high school diploma and 7 years experience in construction, maintenance, and/or environmental health programs.
Drivers License required.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have and maintain EPA/OSHA recognized Asbestos Supervisor and/or Asbestos Building Inspector certification. Must attend and successfully complete Incident Command, mold remediation, and lead awareness training within 6 months of employment.

Must have the ability to effectively communicate with the public and government officials at all levels, to manage multiple and complex duties concurrently, to prioritize work activities in alignment with the goals of the department, to meet time restrictions, to work within specific resource limitations, to make fact based decisions, to build positive customer relationships, to use initiative, to be proactive in carrying out duties, to project a positive image which encourages high morale and team spirit and promotes confidence, usefulness, and purpose.
