Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Participate in NIH-funded big data research project on HIV/AIDS, treatment and health care utilization in South Carolina (SC). The primary responsibility includes, but is not limited to, big data analysis, literature review, preparation of manuscripts and grant applications, and other related tasks. Specifically, the associate will be responsible for investigating and developing methods for data visualization using statistical software like SAS and other related technologies as needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Ph.D., in public health, psychology, sociology, education, nursing, or related fields by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced training in research methodology and statistics. Previous research experience working with large databases; experience in data visualization; excellent analytic skills; experience with Microsoft Excel and Access and working knowledge of database architecture are preferred.


Strong analytic skills, ability to work independently, effective organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in SAS (knowledge of or proficiency in Enterprise Guide and Miner will be valued).
