Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina seeks a Senior Regional Admissions Representative, reporting to the Assistant Director for Out-of-State Recruitment, to represent the University of South Carolina to prospective students, as well as their parents, and high school guidance counselors located within the assigned geographic region of Pennsylvania/Southern New Jersey. This position includes extensive travel and some evening and weekend work.

The Senior Regional Admissions Representative plays a key role in helping the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to recruit, admit, and enroll prospective students. S/he will also assist in the recruitment and training of new and existing alumni volunteers. The representative must be physically based in the geographic area s/he manages; preferred location is the Greater Philadelphia area or Mercer/ Hunterdon counties in New Jersey.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in Student Services or related field, or bachelor's degree and 2 years related experience.

Traveling alone within assigned geographic region and to South Carolina for student recruitment and professional development/ training events is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Background experience in admissions, public relations, or another student personnel area desired. Preference will be given to those who currently live in the existing geographic market and have knowledge of the local secondary schools.


Must relate well to people, have an engaging personality, and be able to speak with confidence in front of groups. Knowledge of secondary and post-secondary school systems desired. Must be able to read and evaluate academic credentials. Must be able to operate a personal computer. Must be able to make public presentations to groups, counsel individuals, and maintain confidentiality of student credentials. Will be required to organize special programs. Will be required to travel alone in assigned geographic location. Must be able to drive during the day as well as at night. Must be able to make public presentations before large groups of people. Must have strong writing skills.
