Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The Desk Top Support Manager will be responsible for the deployment, installation and maintenance of University Housing computer systems and provides desktop support and programming services for the day to day operation. Participates in the installation and maintenance of new and existing hardware and software applications within University Housing. Provides support for the MS Windows OS and other specialized software applications (i.e., CBord, Odyssey, HMS, FAMIS, Johnson Controls P2000, Adobe Creative Cloud). Provides guidance of system capabilities, utilization, storage, security, access, maintenance, and operational issues and confers with users, staff and IT Director to discuss the revision of new and existing systems. Provides assistance and coordinates software training for users. Writes documentation, designs flow charts, and diagrams on system procedures and data for administrative use. Oversees equipment inventory database of computer systems. Is responsible for the support and maintenance of smart classroom and conference rooms. Individual may be called to assist with campus and individual crisis during evenings and weekends and during peak periods. Must have flexibility and ability to work longer than normal hours if necessary. This position has been designated as essential personnel during inclement/hazardous weather and other emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)Bachelor's degree in Information Technology Systems or related field and 2 years experience in computer systems development and modifications; or equivalency.
Preferred QualificationsHighly proficient in computer hardware and software troubleshooting and deployment. A+ certification desired.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesSkill in the installation, deployment and modification of software applications. Skill in imaging of computer equipment. Knowledge of office automation standards and microcomputer hardware and software. Knowledge of data processing operations. Ability to train, direct and coordinate work of users. Ability to establish working relationships with users and vendors. Ability to provide courteous customer service to a diverse clientele, including faculty, staff and students.
