Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Associate Director of Distributed Learning (DL) will report to the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Distributed Learning and is responsible for operationalizing a DL strategic plan to fully encompass DL activities and growth. The Associate Director must also facilitate communication with internal (Deans, faculty, CTE staff, etc.) and external partners (Academic Partnerships, etc.) to market and develop healthy DL programs. The Associate Director will gather enrollment and other strategic data, and make recommendations to the supervisor for strategic growth in DL courses and programs. The Associate Director will work with DL staff to develop processes and procedures based on strategic data to ensure accommodations for DL growth, changes in technology, delivery methods, services and budget expenditures/revenue. The Associate Director will also benchmark national best practices for DL and create a plan to implement those best practices at the University of South Carolina.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's degree and 6 years or bachelor's degree and 8 years related experience in business, public administration or administrative services.

Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

At least a master's degree and extensive experience in the area of Distributed/Online Learning strategic planning and leadership. Relationship building experience with internal/external partners is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with previous higher education experience.
