Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Coordinate and manage day-to-day activities of assigned research projects and the Center, including: assist in developing research protocols, procedures and materials, organize research records and maintain databases; assist in preparing project and technical reports for funding agencies; prepare, submit, and monitor regulatory materials for IRB, DSMB and other regulatory bodies, communication with research team members, community partners, participants, and funding and regulatory agencies.

Train and supervise staff and student assistants on research protocols, managing schedules to ensure research tasks completed in a timely fashion.

Assist with research participant recruitment, informed consent, and data collection according to study protocols.

Assist in writing, preparing, and submitting grant applications, manuscripts, and research-related presentations.

Order and maintain supplies, process travel authorizations and reimbursements, participant payments, and monitor expenses within budget.

Other duties as assigned by Center Director.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's degree in related field and 2 years related experience, or bachelor's degree in related field and 4 years related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with research studies
USC research policies and databases
Certified Research Coordinator
Experience with at least one statistical program, preferably SPSS, Powerpoint, Excel


Outstanding communication and organizational skills, comfortable with technology, and productive in a work environment that has competing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines. Individual must be able to work independently. She/he must be highly organized, professional, flexible, and a team player. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Analytical skills, ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, attentiveness to details and results. Strong interpersonal skills sufficient to inspire, lead, and work effectively with diverse groups. Ability to plan, coordinate and implement diverse administrative functions, establish and maintain effective working relationships.
