Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Associate Editor assists the project director with all editorial tasks of the Pinckney Papers Projects, including preparing reports & applications for funding.
Researches documents in South Carolina archives & national & international repositories. Responsible for reading & transcribing handwritten manuscripts, entering information into DocTracker database, & researching and writing annotations.
Supervises student staff & participates in development of editorial policies & editorial board meetings.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Masters degree in American History, Public History, or closely related field. Experience in scholarly editing.

Preferred Qualifications

MA required; ABD preferred.Experience in scholarly editing and advanced reading. Translation skills in Spanish or French are desirable but not required.
