Advertised Job Summary
Provides skilled planned and corrective cross-functional maintenance and repair services including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing for designated facilities on the Columbia campus of the University of South Carolina. Maintains and follows a safe, productive, cost effective, and comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant reliable operations relating to all carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing needs. Assists with estimating the time and cost of service work to be performed. Takes personal initiative to identify and correct any problems and to develop strong customer service practices. Performs administrative tasks including maintaining and completing accurate daily time sheets, records on all scheduled and emergency repairs, assisting with the Facility Services inventory control, and attending meetings and training events related to customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
High school diploma and 4 years experience in a commercial or residential trades occupation including but not limited to carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing,
Driver's License is required.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of national and local code requirements for trades area. Knowledge of general maintenance requirements, maintenance and typical hazards within the work place. Ability to work within established resources, communicate in writing and orally to management, maintain accurate records, operate computer systems, organize work materials, plan and prioritize work, develop and use strong customer service skills, maintain a harmonious relationship within team members and other departmental staff, work independently, demonstrate dedication to team work and customer service, utilize safe work practices, and promote safety in the work place.
