Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Laboratory technical manager II has responsibility for the successful execution of management, operational use, and maintenance of equipment; support for project design, planning, and execution to achieve contractual requirements; customer satisfaction; cost forecasting and control; and scheduling, quality and performance. Manages overall readiness and satisfaction. This position is in support of expanded research activities and projects in both the McNair Center and in the Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Civil engineering highly preferred. Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition and wired/wireless sensing preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Experience in project supervision with excellent analytical skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to organize and prioritize tasks, make decisions, and be comfortable in a setting where schedules and priorities change daily. Knowledge of large machine tools and mechanical workshop equipment. Proficient with Microsoft Office and understanding of scheduling and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Project). Able to supervise and manage multiple parallel research efforts on a range of manufacturing, testing and finishing equipment. Strong interpersonal skill are required.
