Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Manager of Clinical Clerkship Education, the Coordinator for Clinical Clerkship Education supports the clerkship director to ensure high quality education of multiple disciplines through the Clinical University model. Medical Education is a continuum from medical student to clerkship to residency to fellowship. The clerkship coordinators are the liaisons between all education and key to organize and coordinate the education process. They will also have a collaborative relationship with the residency coordinators. The coordinator plays a major role in the day-to-day administration of the clerkship, acting internships, and other rotations and electives. H/She acts as a student advisor, advocate, and policy expert for the clerkship. H/She is an important bridge between the medical school and the departments and between the USCSOMG and the regional affiliated sites. The Clerkship Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Manager for Clinical Clerkship Education to assist with the department's education activities. The Clerkship Manager ensures that all policies and procedures are followed and ensures compliance with all USCSOMG requirements for the 3rd and 4th year medical student education while organizing, maintaining and coordinating medical student rotations.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master's degree, or bachelor's degree and 2 years experience in curriculum management or development.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with administrative support to physicians/residents or experience as a manager in a physician practice or experience in medical education field, managing a program of significant size and responsibility.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Understand requirements of the program and compliance with guidelines and requirements for the Liaison Committee for Medical Education. Knowledge of the rules, policies, and requirements as they apply to grades, course evaluations, and required courses for graduation from USCSOMG Time management and organization skills to prioritize and complete tasks accurately and independently in a very busy environment and with professionalism Problem-solving and decision making skills to interact effectively with the diverse student population and to resolve conflicts Skill in the development and preparation of instructional aids. Communicate effectively. Experience with medical school curriculum in order to counsel medical students on course choices, requirements for graduation, policies and procedures, and required. Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook Strong interpersonal communication skills Organization and ability to prioritize tasks Ability to work independently Eye for detail Experience working with online learning and assessment systems in an academic environment (OASIS, Canvas, Self Service Carolina).
