Advertised Job Summary
The selected candidate will provide additional legal support and coordination of services for the School of Law's medical legal partnership known as CHAMPS (Carolina Health Advocacy Medico/legal PartnerShip). S/He will represent low-income clients referred to CHAMPS from Palmetto Health and Palmetto Health-USC Medical group.
The Advertised Minimum Salary of $59,100 is based upon a 40 hour week. This position is part time, with the expected workweek to be between 20 and 30 hours, subject to mutual agreement between employee and employer. This grant-funded position is funded for one year.
Juris Doctorate degree required.
Must be a member in good standing of the South Carolina Bar. Must have at least five years of relevant legal experience.
Experience in health care representing under-served populations preferred.
Preference for five or more years of this experience.
Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina.
Ability to draft legal documents.
Ability to organize and draft briefs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
