Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Columbia is seeking a student- centered faculty member to serve as the Assistant Dean for Pre-Clinical Curriculum.
The assistant dean will be responsible for: 1) oversight and management of the pre-clinical curriculum 2) the ongoing development and implementation of the Student Success and Wellness Center 3) overseeing the staff in the Office of Curricular Affairs and Media Resources and the Student Success and Wellness Center 4) management of the office budget 5) participating in educational research and 6) ensuring that all relevant LCME standards are met in preparing students for 21st century medical careers. This is a non-tenure-track faculty position at the level of clinical assistant professor or clinical associate professor. The position reports to the Associate Dean for Medical Education and Academic Affairs.

Required Education and Experience

Minimal Qualifications: Doctorate Ed.D. or Ph.D. in a science of health related field or M.D./D.O. Physicians should be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of South Carolina. Knowledge and experience in medical student education, specifically in the area of curriculum development is preferred. Familiarity with database systems such as the AAMC Curriculum Inventory and OASIS.
The successful candidate will have a proven record in clinical, academic, and/or administrative leadership.
