Advertised Job Summary
The search committee welcomes inquiries from both experienced Chef Lecturers and working Chef Lecturers in the industry that possess training experience. The successful candidate will serve as the Culinary Institute Coordinator, and will prepare a strategic plan to reinvigorate, expand, and promote the Culinary Institute at Carolina. The candidate will report to the Director of HRTM for instructional assignments, consisting of teaching two (2) academic undergraduate courses per fall and spring semesters, and (1) academic course per summer semester. The candidate will also report to the McCutchen House General Manager for operational assignments.Required Education and Experience
Earned Master's Degree in Hospitality or a closely related field, Certified Working Chef or CEC, accompanied by three (3) years back-of-house culinary experience, with at least two (2) years at the supervisory managerial level. Restaurant and/or foodservice industry experience must be with full-service restaurants or similar establishments, where high quality food production is evident. Broad-based knowledge of hot and cold food preparation, quantity food production, and foodservice safety/sanitation is required; along with demonstrated commitment to student-centered learning and to excellence in teaching.Preferred Qualifications
Earned Master's Degree in Hospitality or closely related field, accompanied by a minimum five (5) years back-of-house culinary experience, with at least three (3) years at the supervisory managerial level, and two or more years of higher education teaching experience. Excellent communication, management, and leadership skills. The ability to collaborate with HRTM faculty on foodservice research, as well as, the willingness to provide service and/or industry connections to the School, College, and University.
