Alfred State announces a vacancy for a Residence Director Position that will also work within the Career Development Office.
Alfred State announces both current and anticipated vacancies for Residence Directors for the 2018-2019 academic year. This live-in position includes weekend and evening hours and completion of an on-duty coverage providing campus oversight for all residence halls. Residence Directors are also responsible for selection, training, and supervision of a residential student staff, community development within the living-learning environment, residence hall governance and coordination of residence halls residential curriculums. Residence Directors serve as a liaison between students, faculty and administrators in regards to college policies in residence halls across the campus, along with the enforcement of community standards, the student code of conduct and other aspects of the disciplinary process. Also responsible for the administration of college policies and residence hall operations, including opening and closing activities, demonstration of professionalism in interactions with other campus constituencies as well as guests of the college; plus, the promotion of campus activities and student/faculty initiatives.
Residence Directors simultaneously work as program coordinators throughout the Division of Student Affairs where they provide assistance with planning, program management, administration, program and event implementation, and assessment. This position will work closely with the Career Development Center in providing career related services to all students on both the Alfred and Wellsville campuses. Specific duties may include focused activity on our Applied Technology Campus in Wellsville, as well as work with students on our Alfred campus providing:
- Instruction/guidance/support with all of our branded online platforms [I.e., CRM/Job Board [Symplicity] JobLink; Online rsum/portfolio builder OptimalRsum, Online Career Resource Center CareerBeam, and online video resource library Candid Career.
- Preparation for students in all facets of their job/internship search.
- Assistance with on-campus events including all career fairs, workshops, etc.
- Data collection and input of graduate survey information for our annual Employment & Continuing Education Report.
- Collaboration with faculty in providing support unique to their majors.
- Creative contribution to our various social media platforms to promote Career Development and educate students/potential students.
- Assistance to students transferring to two-year, four-year, or graduate schools.
- Other duties that encompass Career Development.
The Residential Life team is a part of the Residential Services Department within the Division of Student Affairs at Alfred State. It is composed of a dedicated, student-oriented group of professionals who create an environment conducive to learning about one's self, community and society. We provide learning opportunities, skill development, and personal contacts that foster successful, well-balanced and fulfilling life experiences for the students of Alfred State and our community.
We will also be searching this position at The Placement Exchange (TPE) Wednesday, February 28 through Saturday, March 3 in Philadelphia.
