The University of Kentucky is currently seeking an individual for a Tuba-Euphonium professorship. This is the first full-time position for Tuba/Euphonium at any university in the world. This prestigious position has only been held by three individuals since it was established in 1960, almost 60 years. The UK Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble has been invited to perform at the International Tuba-Euphonium Conference five times, has performed twice at the New York Brass Conference, and four times at the U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference in Washington, DC. Since its inception, UK tuba and euphonium graduates have attained many performing and teaching positions both nationally and internationally.

A successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate applied tuba and euphonium; teach the tuba/euphonium portion of low brass methods; lead weekly studio class; direct the University of Kentucky Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble; perform as a member of the University of Kentucky Faculty Brass Quintet; and additional responsibilities as assigned. Must sustain a successful recruitment/retention record, develop a diverse portfolio of creative/scholarly activities, and exhibit service contributions appropriate for a university faculty member. This position is being sought at open-rank, depending on candidate qualifications and experience, and will begin July 1, 2018. Appointment period is for 9 months.

Located in Lexington, the center of Kentucky's Bluegrass Region, the University of Kentucky is a research I, land-grant institution, and the flagship research institution of the Commonwealth. The School of Music has 50 full-time faculty, with an average enrollment of 400 students. The School of Music offers baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees in music performance, music education, musicology, and theory/composition, as well as a master's degree in music therapy. The School is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
