Professor and Chair of Family and Community Medicine
The University of Kentucky is seeking a Chair of Family and Community Medicine. This position is charged with the growth and development of research and teaching excellence of the Department and will oversee research, education, service, and other departmental activities. This Chair will work closely with the Department's Faculty, the Dean and senior leadership within the College, University and UK Healthcare to outline a strategic plan for the Department.
The Chair must also foster and support research in basic, translational, and clinical research in alignment with the vision and mission of the University, oversee the continuing education of the Department's faculty and overall educational mission. The Chair serves as an important spokesperson for UK's Family and Community Medicine Department research, service, and educational activities at the local, regional and national level.

Applicants should have a MD or equivalent degree.
Required Related Experience
The applicant should be an outstanding physician with an international reputation in leadership, teaching, or research. In addition, achievement in research, clinical and educational pursuits, as well as progressive and broad administrative leadership experience within an academic or similarly complex institution is required.
The qualified candidate will have a distinguished record of achievement in basic, translational, and/or clinical research, and experience sufficient to be a tenured full Professor.
Required License/ Registration/Certification
Applicant must be currently certified or eligible for certification with the Kentucky Board of Family Medicine.
The applicant should have the following qualities:
-Proven ability to provide visionary leadership in a complex environment.
-Broad and thoughtfully considered approach to leading an academic Department of Family and Community Medicine, inclusive of all disciplines within the department.
-Demonstrative leadership and effectiveness in building research initiatives alongside clinical programs. Strong scholarly credentials with a proven ability to recruit research faculty, partner with external organizations and secure additional research funding.
-Proven track record as an outstanding clinician and administrative leader demonstrated by inclusive leadership style, collaboration, integrity judgment and strong interpersonal skills.
-Ability to articulate a clear vision for growth, expansion, and evolution of the Department of Family and Community medicine to a top tier medical education institution.
-Demonstrated leadership style that enjoys interacting with people and can easily connect with faculty and staff in the department, centers of research, across disciplines and among external entities in the community.
-Demonstrates the ability to recruit and retain outstanding faculty and physicians; have worked effectively with program leadership; ability to effectively delegate.
-Shown evidence of success in grant writing and funding procurement.
-A philosophy of collaboration and teamwork in interactions within and across departments; have shown the ability to successfully support multidisciplinary efforts in a complex environment.
-Shown skills to be a collaborative leader with medical school, health sciences, and university colleagues to advance the UKCOM and broader UK missions.
-Demonstrated ability to be engaging and persuasive with strong teamwork skills; politically astute, diplomatic, and able to manage by influence.
