Assistant Professor of Acting
The University of Kentucky Department of Theatre and Dance seeks applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of Acting beginning August 2018. Our undergraduate program is National Associate of Schools of Theatre (NAST) accredited with a robust production season of five mainstage productions including a musical and annual dance concert, as well as an active student produced studio season.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include teaching foundational, intermediate, and advanced acting classes for majors and non-majors acting as needed; coaching and mentoring student actors for audition preparation; directing in the season as needed dependent upon the candidate's areas of strength; and recruitment for the undergraduate program.
There is also an expectation of research and/or creative work, committee service, advising, and other administrative responsibilities, consistent with the rank of an Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to teach B.A. undergraduate students in the foundations of acting (i.e., Stanislavski, Meisner, or some combination of training) and strong ties to the profession. Master's Degree of Fine Arts or terminal degree required and college teaching experience preferred.
