FSU College of Law Research Center


Supports faculty and student research and scholarship; provides in-depth research assistance at the reference desk, via email, and in-person consultations.
Provides essential technical services functions for the Research Center, including cataloging and metadata services.
Develops and maintains technical services policies, procedures, and workflows in cooperation with other librarians and staff.
Participates in the legal research curriculum. Provides instruction via workshops, guest lectures, and for-credit upper-level research courses. Delivers instruction in a variety of formats, including fully online, hybrid or blended, and face-to-face instruction.
Prepares and maintains research guides, specialized course resources, and research resources for other law school departments.
Contributes to the College of Law and the profession through substantive involvement in committee work, research, publishing, and/or participation in professional organizations.
Represents the Research Center on various college, campus, and library system committees and at various meetings and other functions. Facilitates collaborative relationships within the College of Law and with a variety campus partners.
Other duties as assigned.


J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution.
M.L.S. (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution.
Proficiency in legal research and information technologies.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse groups.
An aptitude for and interest in project planning and management, as well as excellent organizational, time-management, and analytical skills.
Strong service orientation.
Ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision and direction.
Ability to meet the Research Center's requirement for scholarship, service, and leadership.


Experience in cataloging and bibliographic maintenance, or a demonstrated potential for rapid growth into such skills.
Proficiency with ILS software and other library-related technologies used to support technical services.
Demonstrated teaching or training skills.
Bar membership or an intention to take a state Bar exam.

This is a Faculty position.
