The position will serve in a temporary role to "shadow" the current but retiring Senior Associate Registrar position. The temp position will assume full-time duties in this role after June 29, 2018. The Senior Associate Registrar is responsible for management of registration, grading maintenance of student academic records, and other related enrollment & record functions especially as applied in the Student Information System (Banner). The Sr. Associate Registrar assists in the development of the Undergraduate Catalog and assists departments in development of the semester class schedules. Assists Registrar and other Administrators in developing and implementing changes to policies, procedures, and systems. The Sr. Associate Registrar assists enrollment management planning efforts by providing essential data and management information including enrollment trends and course demand data through extensive knowledge of Banner tables and associated software applications.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Responsible for development, implementation, review and maintenance of Banner (Student) support systems including self-service features in a student-oriented and user-friendly environment. Investigate methods where Banner can be used to its fullest potential to meet the changing technology-oriented needs of students.
Coordinates with Academic units for semester Schedule of Classes development as well as development of the public class schedule and class status reports.
Manages the technology side of the web registration, grading, and academic standing review processes, as well as Banner setup in support of registration and withdrawal policies and end-of-term processes.
Assists with ensuring accuracy of the student schedule through SQL coding in conjunction with Oracle software and subsequent communication with academic departments.
Serves as a Student Affairs division-wide Banner Student System resource to assist division staff to utilize Banner functions for improved proficiency as well as an improved student experience.
Serves as manager of Banner access security, indicating to Information Technology what student data can be access by whom. Develops security classes to support this effort.
Assumes lead role for all Banner enhancements related to service improvements and/or expansion for Enrollment Services Functions.
Serves as liaison with Information Technology on all Student Affairs Banner systems issues as well as on all specific Banner Student system issues.
Tests all Banner system releases first within the division and reports on findings by recommending fixes and determining how best to use the new features.
Prepares and executes Banner processes to include the National Student Data Clearinghouse reporting.
Assists with strategic enrollment planning, business process definitions, and staff development.
Communicates semester enrollment dates and deadlines and other data to Student Affairs' Marketing office for publication.
Assists with implementation of Registrar web page and web-based applications with Student Affairs Marketing office.
Periodically reviews institutional data definitions repository to add or edit definitions as needed.
Develop and maintain MS Access databases to support catalog, class schedule, retention, curriculum, grading, graduation, and other Enrollment Services efforts and functions.
Represents the division and university by participating in professional activities to include national, regional and state professional conferences, Ellucian Live conferences, and various UCO committees.
Implement and interpret policy independently and in consultation with the Registrar.
Insures integrity of data in the system.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Serves on the Enrollment Services Management Team.
Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of directly related work experience to this position that provides experience in leading, planning, program development and innovation, and assessment. Extensive knowledge and comprehensive understanding of functional area. Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
Seven+ years working with Banner Student Information System.
Experience with implementing various Banner upgrades and new products.
Experience having supported many or all aspects of enrollment (admissions, financial aid, records and registration, graduation, and advising) in a higher education setting.
Experience evaluating and implementing new technologies.
Experience with website content management.
Demonstrated ability to use good judgment, interpret policy, rules and procedures.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a support team both within and beyond the office.
Background in HTML, Microsoft products, SQL and basic reporting.
Creative thinker with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must possess an investigative and inquisitive approach toward problem solving.
