Position Summary

The Department of Geography at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the field of Geographic Information Science (GIScience). We seek a dynamic scholar-teacher to help us build on existing departmental strengths. The position is open to all areas of GIScience, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in geographic analysis and modeling of human-environment interactions in areas such as natural hazards; sustainability science; resilient communities; and/or urban and regional systems. Further information on the Department's programs and strategic directions can be found at Successful applicants will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, train a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students from various backgrounds, make significant contributions to our Ph.D. and M.A. programs and undergraduate curriculum, and teach introductory and specialized upper division courses in their areas of specialization. The Department has strong associations with several interdisciplinary programs at UNCG, including Environmental & Sustainability Studies, and the potential for developing synergies with other programs should be identified in the application letter. The position will begin August 1, 2018. Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. in Geography or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Geography or closely related discipline.
