Position Summary

The Grants Specialist is a professional within the Office of Sponsored Programs. The primary mission of the Office of Sponsored Programs is to support sponsored research activities at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). The position will report directly to the Director of Sponsored Programs at UNCG. The Grants Specialist is responsible for providing substantive professional advice on the development of project proposals. This position will require a strong understanding of proposal budgets well as a thorough knowledge of the external funding process.

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications of this position include (1) a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university or Bachelor's degree plus three years research experience in their area of study. Applicants must have a minimum of three years' experience in research administration (preferably higher education) and grant development, including demonstrated ability to develop, review, write, edit, create budgets/budget narratives and submission of proposals.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of electronic research administration including submission portals such as, the NIH eRA Commons and NSF Fastlane are preferrred. Knowledge of federal, state and university grant programs that support research, instruction and public service across disciplines and their submission process is needed.
