Develop and administer an array of financial aid (need-based, merit, hybrid) and financial services strategies and programs. Collaborate with other administrators and campus leadership to formulate and administer a broad range of policies and procedures related to financial aid and student finance. Conceive and implement assessment strategies to ensure that financial aid investments and/or student financial processes are cost-effective in meeting primary objectives. Directs activities and supervises professional and support staff in counseling and providing service to students and parents. Ensure timely and efficient delivery of services; oversees quality control, compliance and system integrity for the unit. Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, and promote effective stewardship of institutional funds.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Coordinates the administration of all facets of student financial assistance programs to include scholarships, state and federal grants and loans, student employment programs, and student aid from private sources. Ensures distribution of funds in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. Counsels students and/or parents on the financial aid process, debt management and funds availability. Directs the operation of the Student Financial Aid Office to include development and implementation of policies and procedures, budget preparation, staff training program and long and short range plans. Monitors the functioning of the internally developed student financial aid database and plan appropriate enhancements. Represents the institution as the spokesperson on financial aid issues and participates in appropriate professional activities. Coordinates the financial aid process for athletic recipients after notification by the Athletic Department's notification of financial aid recipients' identity. Coordinates the preparation of the squad report, athletic expenditure reports, and disbursement of scholarships to athletic recipients. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requires a university degree or equivalent work experience that provides extensive knowledge of fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Requires the application of expertise in a chosen field to achieve results. Extensive knowledge and compressive understanding of functional area. 7+ years of experience with leading planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment. Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
Extensive working knowledge of computer applications as it applies to financial aid administration. 3 years of experience in a managerial role with a proven track record of impactful leadership.
Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, human relations, and organizational skills. Strong public relations skills involving making presentations and writing for publications. Computer proficiency preferably in Microsoft Office. Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and interact professionally with all segments of the University community. Good supervisory, report preparation, training and project management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to hire and supervise employees. Ability to make policy and procedure decisions. Must be detail-oriented.
