The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves more than 3,600 undergraduate students in 26 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook. Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. This position is full-time, tenure-track position.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Includes classroom and clinical teaching of undergraduate and graduate Nursing courses. Possible areas of instruction include Foundations of Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing and Community Health as well as other subjects in Nursing.
Other job responsibilities include scholarly/creative activities and service to the department, college, university and profession.
Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
Graduate degree in Nursing required (either Master's or Doctorate). Preference will be given to candidates with an earned Doctorate in Nursing or a closely related field.
Current Oklahoma Registered Nursing license required. At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience required.
Experience teaching nursing is preferred.
Experience and interest in simulation and active learning strategies desirable.
Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff members is necessary.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
